Little is much when God is in it

Today I ran across a letter that a pastor of a church on Sanibel Island, Florida wrote in the wake of the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. He compared it to the time that him and his wife lived on missions in a third world country. He was sharing truth from God’s word and truth of the things his family were currently feeling and experiencing.

It’s been exactly 10 months and 1 day.

Ten months and one day that all of those same emotions became our reality as well. I could relate to every word he wrote on some level and those first emotions came flooding back from somewhere deep inside of me.  I relived the news, the destruction, the disorientation… but moreover the true faithfulness of God.  I felt those same emotions when we made a trip over to lend a hand in Jesus’ name following the Eastern KY floods. I sat with the Lord this morning after reading his public letter and He quickly reminded me of a word that has been spoken to me many times, from the unlikeliest of places and people (because isn’t that just like the Lord?).

“Little is much when God is in it.”

‘Wagons of provision’ have been prophesied over my family and I know that the Lord will provide in whatever way He chooses.  My heart wants more than anything to trust whatever His plan is for our family, without doubt or hesitation. His plan is ultimately for His glory. I desire to be in a place of…

“I trust Your plan..”

“Lead me where my trust is without borders…”

“Whatever it takes to bring you glory…”

All of these things come with a cost, and we consider the cost JOY, Lord. Isn’t it hard to get to that place sometimes? It’s easy to say… but a lot of times hard to live. Help our unbelief, Lord. Help mine.

God is in this rebuild, and little has produced much.  I’ve been slow to share our progress because we have stayed very busy. Busy with life, (because the everyday grind doesn’t stop to rebuild) and busy working on a house and farm.

Today, I want to share our progress over the last few months and I’m excited for you to see it.

Before dry-wall was added we added “the Word” to the walls. Our favorite lyrics that we will worship to in this house and scripture that will be spoken, declared and read are written in these walls. This house will be a house of prayer, peace & worship.  In the few days after the storm the song “Firm Foundation” by Cody Carnes was released. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve played this song. Most days of December and January, it stayed on repeat. I chose to write it on our hearth. A testament to our firm foundation.

“Rain Came, Wind Blew, But my house was built on You. I’m safe in You, I’m gonna make it through.”

Drywall and paint came next, and this was probably the most exciting part because it felt like actual progress. We could “see” the space now.

I am most excited about our kitchen. This is the hub of the house. If you’ve been around me for any length of time, you know my love for canning, baking, gardening, basically all things domestic runs really deep in my soul. I joke and say I was created for another time, lol.  The heart of this house will be the kitchen, it’s my love language, so I wanted to choose it with care.

I have fallen in LOVE with this island. We had a large island in our farm house and I was looking forward to choosing one this time around.

Chris is working so hard on his days off from his “real life job”. I honestly don’t know how he does it, I’m so thankful to the Lord for him.

We’re so close, but it still feels far away. Once the house is complete, there will still be much to do… but we know that God’s going to do it. As Chris was driving home from work last night this double rainbow showed itself in the sky, lots of friends got amazing shots of it from our hometown.

It felt like a kiss from heaven in the sky. It’s so vivid, so bright, probably the most beautiful rainbow I’ve seen.

His promises.

Receive today friend- double the promise, double the blessing, write down what you’re believing for and receive.

Be encouraged that GOD is FOR you, not against. His ways are perfect and there is JOY in the valley…because

“Little is MUCH when GOD is in it.”

The current exterior of the house.

Thank you for following our journey, for those who are praying for us and our children… keep praying. For those who have given and friends who still give of their time so selflessly, thank you. I can’t wait to continue to share what God is doing on the farm.

P.S.- We found a vine full of tiny grape tomatoes yesterday by the old foundation. I’ll just add it to the list of unexpected “I See You” moments from the Lord.

In the harvest field now ripened

There’s a work for all to do

Hark the voice of God is calling

To the harvest calling you

Little is much when God is in it

Labor not for wealth or fame

There’s a crown and you can win it

If you go in Jesus’ name
